Spacer rings are usually bored to match the ID of the pipe and are supplied to the same thickness as the blind (paddle blind) that it replaces. This allows the piping to be reassembled after removing the blind without shifting the mating flanges and associated piping which can be difficult, impractical, or impossible.

Orifice plates are used for purposes of restricting flow in a pipeline. The orifice is a sized port determined by the customer’s engineer to maintain a specific flow or necessary backpressure in a pipeline.
